University of Tasmania staff and students were recognised at the 2015 Study Tasmania International Education Shine Awards on Wednesday night.
The awards recognise excellence in international education across Tasmania, shining the spotlight on international students, homestay hosts and community and staff members.
The International Student of the Year (higher education sector) was Saraswathy Varatharajullu, from Singapore, who is a student engagement leader at the University and is currently studying for a Bachelor of Law and Business, majoring in Finance.
An international admissions officer at the University, Santhana Vaidhyanathan, was named the Staff Member or Teacher of the Year (higher education sector). Santhana came to Tasmania as an international student to pursue his Master in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting, and graduated in 2013.
The University congratulates the winners on their awards.
Study Tasmania is a Tasmanian Government initiative that promotes the state as a quality study destination for international students and also supports international students studying in Government, private and independent schools, TasTAFE and the University of Tasmania.
